There is a high possibility that we know of someone suffering from alcoholism. The individual usually experiences increased risk of being injured, liver damage, loss of employment, marital and interpersonal problems and so on. According to Helzer and Canino (1992) alcoholism has no geographical boundaries since its prevalent in most countries where alcohol is consumed.
From researches which have been carried out i.e twin studies, adoption studies and artificial breeding all suggest that alcoholism has a genetic basis. The above studies are all convergent meaning use of convergent evident which shows relationship between two variables examined from different approach. Therefore we are likely to believe that there is a relationship between heredity and alcoholism.
